Opportunity Not Knocking
Hello quality professionals:
Bringing our members a good balance of Knowledge, Networking, and Opportunities is our goal. Our ASQ Section does quite well in this regard; we work hard for our members and we are proud of our accomplishments. However, there is room for improvement on the third leg of our goal – Opportunities.
We would like nothing more than to have all our members employed to the fullest extent possible. However, this is not the case today. So this month’s Chair Message is dedicated to our members who may be unemployed, under-employed, or looking for different employment.
[We would like nothing more than to have all our members employed to the fullest extent possible.]
Our section leadership maintains a process for connecting organizations looking for quality professionals with those members in need of employment. Bob Suchy, our Employment Chair accepts resumes from members who are looking for employment and he receives job opportunities from employers looking to hire quality professionals. Bob coordinates with our Webmaster and Arrangements Chair, Paul Prunty, to get these jobs posted on our website to our jobs page: http://asq1001.org/Job-Posts.php.
This is a good process and it adds member value. Yet still we have members unemployed, under-employed, or looking for different employment. We can blame much of this on the economy since there are few opportunities out there.
[We are the pool of candidates for quality-related jobs in West Michigan; this employers and recruiters must know.]
This, however, means we have to work harder to get those few opportunities to our members. We are the pool of candidates for quality-related jobs in West Michigan; this employers and recruiters must know. What can you do to help? If your employer is looking to fill a quality-related position or you know a good recruiter, have them contact Bob Suchy at rwsqmark@sbcglobal.net. We all have a role to play in this process.
In keeping with this theme of adding member value and providing opportunities, on November 13 ASQ Presents! ™ Mary Jo Baweja of Right Management speaking on the topic of “Finding a Job in Today's Economy.
See you at the Elk’s!
